Mr. Leon “Bud” Beard, age 90, a lifetime resident of Garland, Texas passed away February 13, 2005, at Baylor Medical Center of Garland. He was born on September 29, 1914, in Allen, Texas to E. L. and Lillian Virginia (Ruble) Beard. On March 4, 1938, he married Roberta K. Davidson in McKinney, Texas. Mr. Beard served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired in 1974 from Worthington. He was also a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Sachse, Texas. Mr. Beard is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Owen Wendell and Dorothy Davidson of Texarkana, Texas; brother-in-law, Cecil Bomar of Nacogdoches; cousin, Helen Presley of Garland, Texas; many nieces and nephews and other loving relatives. He is also survived by his godchildren, Chad Haese and Karl Haese both of Garland. His wife, Roberta and sister, Verneta Howard preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2005, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Walt Lunde and Rev. Joe M. Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
