Lela “Amelia” Haggard was born July 19, 1913 to Basley Marcom and Octavia Jones Marcom. She passed away on May 12, 2006, at the age of 92. Amelia was born in Anna, Tx. and moved around several times within the area and graduated from McKinney High School. She settled in Frisco soon thereafter. She married Homer P. Haggard on December 16, 1931 in Greenville, Tx. She was a lifetime PTA member; worked for Dr. Erwin Pink as a receptionist/bookkeeper; a homemaker; and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Frisco. She will be remembered for her caring heart, positive attitude, devotion to her family and her heavenly Father. She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Haggard; daughter, Ann Haggard Roach; sister Ellen Marcom Estes and brother, Jones Marcom. She is survived by four grandchildren: Jill Roach Beaver and husband Richard of Frisco, Texas; Rusty Roach and wife, Michelle of McKinney, TX; Jeri Hansel Newman and husband Dale of Frisco, TX; Emily Hansel Francis and husband Cheston of Goldthwaite, Tx. Nine great grandchildren; Melissa, Kristen and Sam Beaver; Kyle and Christiann Roach; Clint and Connor Newman; Everett and Ashton Francis. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Sam Roach of Frisco, Tx; a daughter, Sally Haggard Hansel of Frisco, Tx; a sister, Ruth Truett of Dallas, Tx; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Marcom of Plano, Tx; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, May 15, 2006 from 6-8pm at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Frisco. Funeral Services will be held at Restland in the Abbey Chapel on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 11:00am with Rev. Billy Echols-Richter officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Frisco Education Foundation, 7159 Hickory St., Frisco, TX 75034.
