Lawrence W. Hill

Lawrence W. Hill passed away at home on the morning of April 16, 2013. He was born on March 27, 1933 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Arnold Chester Hill and Alice Jowitt Hill. Larry was the oldest of four brothers. His family moved to Sebring, Florida in 1948 where he graduated from Sebring High School in 1951. He attended Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee for two years before being drafted into the Army. After serving his country at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he graduated from Auburn University, earning a B.S. in Business Administration in 1957. Larry’s early employment was in human resource positions with Union Camp Corporation, Savannah, Georgia, and later with Argus Camera in South Carolina. In 1963 he joined Heidrick and Struggles, Inc. as an Executive Recruiter in Chicago, Illinois, and, after being elected as a Vice President, Larry moved to open the Houston, Texas office in 1972. He was promoted to Sr. Vice President within Heidrick and Struggles, Inc. and elected a director of the firm in 1975, adding the Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia offices to his management responsibilities. In 1983, Larry joined the firm of Russell Reynolds Associates, Inc. as Managing Director of the Houston office. He was listed among North America’s top 150 Executive Recruiters in a book entitled, “The Career Makers” (1992). He was a member of Lakeside Country Club, Houston, Texas, and served on the Board of Directors for 8 years and as President from 1989 to 1990. In 1996 Larry retired to Tiki Island, Galveston, Texas, moving to North Texas in 2003. He was an avid private pilot and when he wasn’t flying the skies in his Bonanza, he was most often on the golf course. Larry also enjoyed boating, fishing, playing Bridge and ministering to others out of his deep faith in Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Hill, of 34 years; his sons, Robert A. Hill and wife Christie, Mac McDonald and wife Lynn; step-daughters, Alisha Nelson, Lauri Miles, and Leigh Ann Jordan; 8 grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his brothers, Donald Hill and Richard Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother, Jeffrey Hill.

A memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Chapel at Christ Church-Plano, 4550 Legacy Drive, Plano, Texas 75024.
