Lavenia M. Nelson, age 87, of Plano, Texas passed away May 9, 2006, in Plano. She was born March 12, 1919, in Allen, Texas to Sherman Hershell and Mexia Catherine (Goff) Pippin. On May 5, 1943, she married Jasper Russell Nelson in Rockwall, Texas. Mrs. Nelson was a school cook for Plano ISD. She retired in 1980. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Sue Baker and husband, Jerry of McKinney, Texas; sons, Larry Nelson of Plano and Kenneth Nelson and wife, Marian of Ft. Worth, Texas; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Her husband, Jasper preceded her in death in 1968. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sister. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2006, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
