Laurel L. Miller, age 84, of Plano, Texas passed away February 3, 2013. He was born July 18, 1928 in Lawton, Oklahoma to James Franklin Miller and Lillian Florence (Grant) Miller. On April 8, 1979 Laurel married Judy McLane Hamilton in Richardson, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army. Laurel graduated from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor degree in business. He was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity and was President of Intramural Sports at SMU. After graduating from SMU, Laurel had a successful career as a stockbroker in Dallas. Laurel was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter for many years. Laurel loved being with his grandchildren and he was an avid sports fan. “Being married to Laurel was such a privilege and an honor, he was a blessing to us all.” Laurel was a godly man, who deeply loved people, especially his grandchildren. He would do anything for anybody.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Miller of Plano, Texas; children, Mistie Miller Porter and husband, Ross of Sugar Land, Texas, David W. Hamilton and wife, Cheryl of Highland Village, Texas, Cathie Hamilton Hanna and husband, Edward of Corinth, Texas, Dena Hamilton of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Travis Porter, Whitney Porter, Hillary Hamilton, Jared Hamilton, Holly Hamilton, Kristin Hanna, Matthew Hanna, Melissa Hanna and Tyler Hanna; sister, Virginia Miller Thornton of Dallas, Texas; brother, James G. Miller and wife, Carolyn of Dallas, Texas; nieces, Melanie Rudebeck and husband, John, Melinda Matthews, Laura Thornton Dwyer and husband, Chris; nephew, Larry Thornton and wife, Aly; great-nephews, Luke, Ryan, Jack, Allen and Adrian.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas, with Dr. Neal Jeffries officiating. Interment will follow at Rowlett Creek Cemetery, Plano, Texas.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
