Laura Mary Tunnell, age 96, of McKinney, Texas, passed away July 2, 2008, in McKinney. Mary was born December 8, 1911 in Paris, Texas, to L. W. and Ivalee (Pearson) Dennis. She married F. A. Tunnell on November 23, 1930, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McKinney for sixty-four years. She also served as a Gray Lady during World War II at the Army Hospital and later at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in McKinney. She is survived by her daughter, Marilee Smith and husband Jim of Wichita Falls, Texas; son, Robert A. Tunnell and his wife, Mary of McKinney, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, L. W. and Ivalee Dennis, husband, F. A. Tunnell, granddaughter, Laura Smith, and six brothers. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, July 7, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas with Rev. Marilyn Bozell officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or First United Methodist Church of McKinney.
