Laura Jean Pettit, age 87, of Plano, Texas, passed away July 30, 2013, in Plano. Laura was born November 26, 1925, in Topeka, Kansas, to John M. and Elizabeth (Hinman) Devlin. She married Bryan DeMart Pettit on June 26, 1947, in Topeka. Laura retired after a number of years working in the accounting department at the University of Texas at Dallas. She loved her family dearly. Laura loved to play cards, games, and work crossword and Sudoku puzzles.
She is survived by her husband Bryan Pettit of Plano, Texas; daughters, Marta Caldwell and husband, Gary of Plano, Texas and Linda Steinhebel and husband, Terry of Krum, Texas; sons, Mike Pettit and wife, Sandy of Mansfield, Texas and Jeff Pettit and wife, Pat of Allen, Texas; three grandsons, eight granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2013, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
