Larry William Gibson

Larry William Gibson, age 73 of McKinney, Texas passed away December 7, 2014 in McKinney, Texas. He was born February 16, 1941 in Coldwater, Michigan to William Franklin and Mabel Jesse (Granger) Gibson. Larry grew up in Sturgis, Michigan, where he met his wife of fifty-four years, Mona Burkhead. They married on November 15, 1960 in Elkhart, Indiana. Larry served in the United States Army until his retirement in 1983. He received a Master's Degree from Boston University and worked for many years in positions where he helped others. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas where he served in several ministries.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Mona Gibson of McKinney, Texas; four children and their spouses, Kellie Gibson and husband John Tidwell of Fort Worth, Texas, Kevin Gibson and wife Marianne Spicker of West Lafayette, Indiana, Karrie Davenport of Fairview, Texas and Kurt Gibson of McKinney, Texas; six grandchildren and their spouses, Nicole and Brent Spinnazola, Hannah and Max Perry, Samuel Tidwell, Chase Gibson, Carson Davenport, and Erica Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Mason and Knox Spinnazola, and Leopold Perry; sister, Sharon Blankenship of Indiana; along with numerous cousins and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel Gibson.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Inurnment with full military honors will take place at a later date at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent’s DePaul at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas.
