Larry Eldon Bates was born May 7, 1944 to James Eldon and Rebecca Ann McGarrah Bates. On Thursday, July 9, 2015, he made his final journey home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca in 1983. He is survived by his father, James Bates; his sister, Dianne Talley, a niece Kim Abbott, 2 nephews Casey and Kirk Talley, 4 great-nieces, 4 great-nephews, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Larry grew up in Princeton and attended school there. He worked with his father building houses for more than 30 years.

For the last 9 years, Larry has resided in the Hinton Home in Farmersville. The family would like to thank the Hinton Home Family and employees for the wonderful care he received.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, Texas. Rev. David Meeks officiated. Interment followed at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville. The family received friends during a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
