Lance James Pettingill

Lance James Pettingill died July 19, 2012 of a rare cancer. Lance was born May 8, 1947 in Bellefonte, PA, to James William and Marion (Lynch) Pettingill.  He married Melinda Nelson on October 10, 1981.  He began his 40 year career in the conveyor belt industry, after graduation from Penn State in 1969, first with Goodyear, where he received the prestigious “Charlie” sales award his first year.  Lance was awarded top supplier at Goodyear, three years in a row.   He later worked for Motion Industries, where he received the President’s Award, five consecutive years.  Lance will be greatly missed by his business friends and associates. His knowledge and sense of humor were always present, and he was the consummate team guy. Lance ended his career as the national account representative for Veyance Technologies, Goodyear Engineered Products division.  He proudly served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Melinda Nelson Pettingill; cherished daughters, Rebecca Johnson and husband, Jay, and their four children, Graesen, Jillian, Ryan and Keaton and Amanda Hallum and husband Todd, and their son, Jaxton, all of College Station, TX.  Lance is also survived by several cousins and aunts in State College, PA, as well as his best friends, Blair Farrand and Ken Williams, and his faithful companion, Daisy dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Special thanks to Dr. Ray Hammon and staff, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Faith Hospice, Dr. Dave Sherman, and all the loving friends who have greatly supported the family. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2012 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 5871 W. Virginia Parkway, McKinney, TX.  A noon reception/luncheon will follow the service at the church in the fellowship hall.

A Remembrance Gathering will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. 

In his memory, donations may be made to the church.
