Lamar Allen Graves, age 45 of Rhome, Texas, passed away on July 19, 2011. He was born January 31, 1966, in Houston, Texas to Fred and Barbara Ellen (Sebek) Graves. In January of 2000, Lamar married Brenda Burke in Mesquite, Texas. He was rough around the edges, but was a teddy bear on the inside. Lamar loved going out on the boat, riding four wheelers, and hanging out with his friends drinking beer. He participated in “Toys for Tots” runs with his brother, Lance. They also attended motorcycle rallies; he was an excellent cook and made great brisket; he was a great welder; he learned all he knew about boats and skiing from his Dad and his Papa. Lamar loved spending time with his grandchildren, Emma and Ethan. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Graves of Rhome, Texas; mother, Barbara Perkins of Houston, Texas; father, Fred Graves and wife Dee of Caldwell, Texas; grandmother, Willa “Nane” Sebek of Houston, Texas; step-sons, Steven McLaughlin and wife Danni of The Colony, Texas, Michael McLaughlin and wife Jessica of Rowlett, Texas, and Chris McLaughlin of Rowlett, Texas; brothers, Lance Graves of Glenrose, Texas and Chris Dutcher and wife Annette of Ganada, Texas; sisters, Donna Petri, Sonya Graves, and Brenda Floyd, all of Caldwell, Texas; daughter, Larene Graves of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, and Karley; Crystal Mae and Dillon and many other nieces and nephews; dog, Missy Mae; many other loving family members and friends. Lamar was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jerry Sebek, Sam Wilson and wife Bea; and his aunt, Susan Wilson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas with Pastor Virgil Cornwell officiating. A private graveside service for the family will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. A reception will follow. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
