L. B. McCarley

Dr. L. B. McCarley, age 75, of McKinney, Texas passed away on July 19, 2006 in McKinney. He was born on January 24, 1931 in Leonard, Texas to Lessley B. and Iva (Nelson) McCarley. He was a graduate of Blue Ridge High School, East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce and Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. After college Dr. McCarley served as an officer in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. While in the service he met Mary Ann Vanlandingham in Tacoma, Washington. They were married on September 24, 1952 in Austin, Texas. He remained active with the military reserves and then later taught school in Melissa, Texas and farmed the family land before enrolling in Baylor Dental College in 1962. Dr. McCarley practiced dentistry in McKinney for 35 years. He was active in local dental societies and served as the President of the Fourth district dental Society of the Texas Dental Association. He began his practice in 1966 in the Wysong Hospital on Tennessee Street where he remained part of the medical staff for many years. Dr. McCarley was a Mason and helped establish the McKinney Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Dr. McCarley touched the lives of many and was loved by all who knew and respected him. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Ann McCarley, RN; children, Dr. David H. McCarley of McKinney, Texas, Dana Pennington of Rowlett, Texas, Kevin McCarley of Everett, Washington, Brian McCarley of McKinney, Texas, and Susan McCarley of Los Angeles, California; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Dr. McCarley was preceded in death by his parents, Lessley B. McCarley and Iva Nelson McCarley; sister, Kathryn Cook and brother, Charles Ray McCarley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 23, 2006 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
