Kevin Neil Roach was born May 29, 1981 in Sherman, Texas to Howard Roach, Jr. and Cecelia Compton Roach. He passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Baylor Medical Center in McKinney, Texas at the age of 32.
Kevin attended school in Whitewright and graduated from Howe High School in 1999. He was a graduate of Grayson County College and Texas A&M-Commerce. Kevin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitewright where he volunteered and was active in the youth program until his health failed.
Kevin enjoyed sports and wrote game reports for area newspapers. He was also a radio announcer for Whitewright and other area school athletic events. His proudest moment as an announcer was providing the play-by-play report of Whitewright's last appearance in the state basketball tournament.
Kevin insisted that he not be defined by the chair he was in. It was his decision to live life and make the most of what he had.
He is survived by parents, Howard (Bud) and Cecelia Compton Roach of Whitewright; sister, Jennifer Rountree and husband Jeff of Sunnyvale; nieces, Ruby Jayne and Johnny Rose Rountree of Sunnyvale who were the light of his life; loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to count. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tilmon and Helen Latimer Compton; grandparents, Howard and Theda Faye Giles Roach; and aunt, Patricia Roach Pruitt.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rodney Stanford, Rev. Paul Brand, and Rev. Chris Day.
Memorials may be made in Kevin's memory to the First Baptist Church of Whitewright Building Fund.
