Funeral services for Kenneth Ray “Kat” Griffis, 77 year old Lebanon, Missouri resident, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday August 22nd at the First Baptist Church of Celeste, Texas. Brother Bruce Moore and Brother David Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Hogeye/Celeste Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday August 21st at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Mr. Griffis was born January 7, 1931 at Celeste, Texas the son of Jeremah Jackson and Lola Alice New Griffis. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army for 21 years, retiring as Command Sgt. Major. He later worked in construction operating heavy equipment. He also worked as a carpenter and built homes for Habitat. He died Sunday August 17th at his home in Lebanon, Missouri. He is survived by his wife: Nettie Griffis of Lebanon, Missouri; Sons and Daughters-in-Law: Donald Eugene and Stephanie Griffis of Leonard, Texas, Michael and Carol Stubblefield of Acworth, Georgia, & Kenneth Ray Jr. and Gloria Griffis of Fontana, California; Daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Buzz Blaschke of Richardson, Texas, Jan and Howard Dooley of Edgar Springs, Missouri, Tomi and Wayne Cochran of Lebanon, Missouri & Tyla McCollum of Cleveland, Texas; Brother and sister-in-law: Joe and Lois Griffis of Whitewright, Texas; Sister: Lou Warren of Celeste, Texas. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Barbara Lucille Griffis, three sisters and four brothers. Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of Leonard is in charge of arrangements.
