Services for Kenneth J. Jester will be held at Earnheart Funeral Home Chapel in Whitewright, Texas, December 5, 2008 at: 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Lindsey Cemetery in Randolph, Texas. Family visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am, one hour prior to the service. Officiating the service will be Steven Statham, grandson; Pastor Justin Jester of Northwest Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, grandson; and Pastor Leon Veazey of First Baptist Church, Whitewright. Pallbearers will be sons, Jackie Jester, Larry Jester, and Jerry Jester; grandsons, Brandon Jester, Steven Statham, and Mike Owens.

Kenneth James Jester, age 85, died at home on December 3, 2008. He was born August 5, 1923, in the town of Glennwood, Arkansas, to the late Roy and Treva Jester. He graduated from Ector High School. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was stationed at Guam. On October 31, 1942, he was united in marriage to Ruby Jean Cox of Ector, Texas. They recently observed their 66th wedding anniversary. Kenneth was a member of Marvin Methodist Church where he attended for several years with his family. After leaving the military, Kenneth began farming and in 1957 he began working for General Cable in Bonham, Texas. He retired after 28 years of dedicated service on March 1, 1986. Kenneth continued farming and raising cattle. Kenneth, better known as Papaw by his grandchildren, loved his family and farming. Taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on tours of the pasture and feeding the cows brought him great joy.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ruby Jester of Whitewright, his sons and daughter, Jackie Jester and wife Linda of Whitewright, Judy Fry and husband Frank of Sherman, Larry Jester of Whitewright, and Jerry Jester and wife Cindy of Marlin, Texas. Grandchildren, Kerri Owens and husband Mike; Brandon Jester and wife Buffy; Justin Jester and wife Kelli; Steven Statham; Jamie Jester; Chris Jester; and Kelly Jester. Six great-grandchildren, three brothers, Flay Jester; Kelsey Jester; and Lee Jester, and one sister, Betty Womack. He also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nadine Cook, brother, Clayton Jester, and granddaughter Ranae Short. Special thanks and appreciation to Thomas Elrod and Leslie Smith for their loving and compassionate care during his illness.
