Kebbie Joe Turner, Sr.

Kebbie Joe Turner, Sr., 81, went to the Lord at Centennial Hosp. in Frisco, Texas on May 7, 2005 following a quick courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 22, 1924, in Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas to the late Kebbie Gerome Turner and Pauline Hill Turner. He attended school at Grand Saline and graduated 3rd in his class. He served in the US Navy during WW II as Chief Machinist Mate. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He received the Bronze Star and 2 Presidential Citations. On November 17, 1945, he married Hilda Odell Thompson. A graduate from the Univ. of Houston with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1950, he was employed by Otis Engineering for 28 years. He’s accredited with several patents still in use today. After retiring from Otis in 1978, he went to work for Wilson Co. until retreating to his house in Wynnwood Haven Est. on Lake Lewisville. Kebbie is survived by his sons, Kebbie Joe Turner, Jr., wife Suzanne of Ponder, Texas; William L. Turner, wife Carolyn of Frisco, Texas; 2 grandsons Jason and Justin Turner, nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda, brother Douglas and sister Jackie. Services for Mr. Turner will be held at 2:00p.m., May 10, 2005 at Turrentine Jackson & Morrow on Main St. in Frisco, Texas. Graveside services will be at Woodside Cemetery in Grand Saline, Texas at 5:30pm. Visitation will be at 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Monday May 9,2005. Please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
