Katie Marie Teague

Katie Marie Teague Griffis, 97 year old Celeste resident, went home to be with the Lord September 1, 2010 at the Leonard Manor. Mrs. Griffis was born on April 6, 1913 at Kingston, Texas to Amos Thurlow and Verna Jewel Bowers Teague. She married Starlen Tate Griffis June 1, 1932 at Celeste. She attended school at Kingson, was a seamstress at J.R. Love and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Celeste where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Flora England Sunday School Class. Her funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday September 4th at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Rev. Bill Eason will officiate. Burial will be in the Celeste/Hogeye Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday September 3rd. She is survived by sons: Bill Griffis and his wife, Sue Griffis, of Leonard; Bobby Lee Griffis and his wife, Betty Long Griffis, and Samuel Tate Griffis and his wife, Vicki Ellis Griffis, all of Celeste; Jackie Thomas Griffis and Kathy of Kapowsin, Washington; Daughters: Anita Joyce Anghern and her husband, Louis Anghern, of Auburn, Washington and Brenda Griffis Pine and Ken of Sumner, Washington; daughter-in-law: Sammie Perkins Griffis of Greenville; sister: Frances Teague Tobia of Kapowsin, Washington; brother-in-law: Joe Griffis and wife, Lois, of Whitewright and sister-in-law: Nettie Griffis of Missouri. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, her sons: Kenneth Earl Griffis and Stanley Eugene Griffis; her granddaughter: Konnie Jo Griffis; her great grandson: Joshua Alan Griffis; her brother: James Teague and her sister: Pauline Teague Westbrook.
