Kathryn Virginia Hamlin of Anna, Texas passed away October 12, 2012 at the age of 82. She was born August 6, 1930 to James Elmer Thornhill and Era Annie Fuller in Paris, Texas. On August 6, 1948 Virginia married Frank Harry Hamlin in Dallas, Texas. She worked as a secretary for a number of businesses including the Veterans Administration and Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. She also worked for Varo Electronics in Garland, Texas. Virginia was the co-owner and secretary of Frank’s Meat Company. She served as secretary for the Lucas Volunteer Fire Department that was founded in 1973 and continued for many years. Virginia was a longtime volunteer at Medical Center McKinney, where her husband Frank also volunteered. She was a member of the Anna United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Mickey Lynn Williams of Anna, Texas; her grandsons, Rhett, Christopher and his wife, Carrie and Blake; great-grandchildren, Lynnde, Kendra and Kathryn (who was named after her); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Billie and Bill Layfield of Blue Ridge, Texas. Virginia is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hamlin; infant daughter, Cindy Kay Hamlin and sister, Emma Jean Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas with Rev. Chuck Jestis and Rev. Tom Fuller officiating.
