Katherine Sue Hamilton Vitz, born to Young Charles and Minnie Mae Hamilton in Jacksboro, Texas, September 6, 1915, passed away February 19, 2006 in Allen, Texas. Reared in Ft. Worth, Texas, and educated at Poly High School, Ft. Worth, Texas and North Texas State, Mrs. Vitz and her husband, John O. Vitz, deceased, were married in 1936, and settled in Dumas, Texas where they and their four children lived for 36 years. Mrs. Vitz was active in the First Christian Church, and civic and educational affairs. She served as a schoolteacher, a legal secretary, and was Chief Deputy District Clerk for Moore County. Mrs. Vitz resided in McKinney, Texas for the last 30 years of her life. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Jeanne D’Arc Literary Club, Texas First Families, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Audubon Society. Mrs. Vitz was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters; and one grandson, Cary Todd Vitz. She is survived by one sister, Charlotte Burger of Ft. Worth, Texas and her children, Betty and John Charles Vitz, of Lubbock, Texas, Charlotte and John McCraw of McKinney, Texas, Judy and William H. Vitz, also of McKinney and Joann and James T. Vitz of Kingwood, Texas. Also surviving are 32 great grandchildren; and the following grandchildren, John L. McCraw, III, Marcus H. McCraw, Katherine McCraw Gore, Christopher Y. McCraw, W. Anthony Vitz, Kristy Vitz Sera, Deborah Vitz Wells, John A. Vitz, C. Andrew Vitz, and Charlotte Vitz Holtz of McKinney, Texas. Also D’ann Vitz Thibodaux of Baytown, Texas and J. McBrien Vitz of Houston, Texas, Melissa Vitz Brouillette and J.W. David Vitz of Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church, McKinney, Texas on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 1:00 PM with graveside at Roselawn Cemetery, Denton, Texas
