IN LOVING MEMORY

Karen Bloomquist Sabala

Feb 14 1943 - Dec 15 2005

Born on February 14, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska, to parents Harold Nathaniel and Corinne Eileen (Jacobsen) Bloomquist. Karen died on December 15, 2005 and is preceded in death by her husband Jesse. Karen is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lyn Sabala, of Oakland, California; son Jeffrey Leon Sabala and wife Carrie of El Segundo, California; mother Corinne Bloomquist of Allen, Texas; and sister Deanna Crutchfield of Rowlett, Texas. Karen fondly remembered her childhood in Omaha, and moved to Houston, Texas during high school. On December 18, 1965 she married Jesse Leon Sabala, Jr., in Houston, Texas. They started their family and moved to Allen in 1972, where they made their home. When her children were young, Karen was a homemaker. She joined the workforce and became an insurance underwriter, which she did for many years. Later in life, she went into business for herself as a pet sitter. Throughout her life, Karen was an avid reader, enjoyed bird watching and nature, and cared deeply for cats. She enjoyed watching hockey and was the Dallas Stars’ number one fan. Her children will always remember Karen’s loving patience, selflessness and devotion, and they know she is finally at peace. “Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous, or conceited, or proud; love is not ill-mannered, or selfish, or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up: its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal.” 1 Cor. 13 Family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance gathering for Karen at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen on Tuesday, December 27, 2005, from 7-9 p.m.
