Karen Elaine Miller, age 63, of McKinney, Texas, passed away December 10, 2014. She was born February 12, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Alice Ann (Olsza) Baredziak. Karen met Craig Stephen Miller in 1970 at Illinois State University; they married in Chicago on November 24, 1973. Karen was employed by several corporations in the finance and administration area. She and Craig lived in Chicago and northern California prior to moving to Texas. She retired from Dr. Pepper in Dallas, Texas. Karen was a gourmet cook, owning 3 restaurants in northern California. She also enjoyed golf, showing her classic Mustang, and traveling. Since her retirement, Karen and Craig have visited Alaska, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Australia and New Zealand. She was of the catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, Craig S. Miller of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Caitlin Miller and partner Pete Haglund of New York, New York; and brother, Rick Baredziak and wife Denise of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alice Baredziak and brother, Joseph Baredziak.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
