IN LOVING MEMORY

Karen Haisler

Mar 29 1957 - Oct 26 2015

It is my sad duty to inform you of the passing of Karen Haisler following a five year battle with breast cancer. Karen, age 57 of Allen, Texas passed away at her home October 26, 2015. She was born in Gary, Indiana to Paul Clark and the late Doris Clark (Smith) on March 29, 1957.

Karen spent most of her childhood in Lakeland, Florida. She held many fond memories of her childhood there and especially time spent on the beach with her sister, Teresa.   That love of the sights and sounds of the ocean would follow her through her entire life. She also held a great affection for her grandparents, Louis and Lora Clark. She shared many fond memories of the summers spent with “Momma & Poppa” Clark on their farm in Kentucky.

Following graduation from Memorial High School in Houston, Karen attended Texas A&M University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. Karen often spoke of the unique life experiences and close friendships she developed during her time in Aggieland. While at A&M, she met her future husband Danny Haisler. Karen and Danny where united on November 4, 1978 and have shared 36 years of marriage. They were blessed with one son, Nathan D’Wayne Haisler.

Karen was led to Christ by a special friend, Rick Griffin. With his guidance, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. In time she was baptized at First Baptist Church in Fannett, Texas where (with the guidance of many friends) she matured as a Christian. Karen shared her beliefs and held many voluntary positions of ministry and teaching. As her friends and family knew, Karen was a passionate, generous person that shared her love of Christ.

Karen was an artistic, multi-talented person.   Her interests included painting, photography, crafts, crochet, sewing, cooking, animals, music and gardening. Her home was decorated with much of her art work and she regularly shared her handiwork with others.

She is survived by her husband Danny; son, Nathan; grandson, Joseph; father, Paul Clark and sister, Kelly Johnson.   She also leaves behind numerous friends and relatives.

Karen is preceded in death by her grandparents; mother, Doris Smith and sister, Teresa Springer.

Karen filled her home with life and love and will be missed. We are gratified that she has a special place in heaven. Karen requested that there be no public visitation, funeral or memorial services. The family wishes to thank all for their well wishes, assistance and prayers during her illness. The family suggests those wishing to honor Karen’s memory contribute to the American Cancer Society or ASPCA.
