Judy Jean Thomas, 73, passed away peacefully at home on August 7th, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Robert (Bob) Thomas.

She is survived by her sons Robert (Bob) Thomas Jr. , Darrell Thomas and his wife Jennifer Thomas, Grandchildren Benjamin Thomas, Amanda Metzgar and Emma Thomas, siblings Johnny Cockrell, Sally Carter, James Manning, Richard Manning and friends Bill Collins, Ann Martin and Clyde and Neva Jackson.

Judy was born in Madisonville, Texas on July 25, 1940. She was married to Bob Thomas on August 20, 1960 in Houston, Texas where they lived until retiring to the family farm in Buffalo, Texas in 1992. After the passing of Bob Thomas, Judy moved to Lucas, Texas in 2006 to be with family.

Judy was an accomplished writer, collaborating with her lifelong friend, Ann Martin on three murder mystery novels as well as frequent contributions to the neighborhood newspaper in Houston and the local newspaper in Buffalo. She was an avid reader and preferred historical fiction novels. Judy was a talented singer and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved to travel and embarked on frequent vacations with her husband Bob Thomas and later with her companion, Bill Collins. She excelled at crafts, sewing and needlework and liked playing board and card games with friends and relatives.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 9, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Turrentine- Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Greenbrier Cemetery in Madisonville, Texas.

There will be a Reception afterward at 3:00pm at Stewart Memorial Methodist Church in Buffalo. 315 Fairfield Street, Buffalo, TX 75831. A light lunch will be served.
