Judy Lynne Thompson Flemons

Judy Lynne Flemons, age 67, of McKinney, Texas, went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2013, in McKinney.  Judy was born October 5, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Herbert Cecil and Bettye Ruth (Holt) Thompson.  Her family moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma in 1960.  Judy graduated from Lindsay High School in 1964 and attended Oklahoma State University. Judy met James Ray Flemons at OSU and they married on June 3, 1967, at Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma.  She and Ray made their home in Salina, Kansas and later in Hays, Kansas, and Tyler, Texas. She completed an associate degree in business administration at OSU. Judy was an accomplished pianist and played in each of the churches, which she attended. She also taught children’s Bible Study and later assisted with Ray in leading Adult Bible Study.  Christian music was a large part of her life as she was involved in the choirs and choruses from High School. Her greatest desire in life was to take care of her family and equip them as Christian adults. At Oklahoma State Judy was active in the Baptist Student Union and served as an officer. While in Kansas she was involved in the P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Kansas Engineer Wives where she served as President. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler and later of First Baptist Church, McKinney. Judy worked as an executive secretary to the President and Executive Vice President of Graves Truck Line in Salina Kansas. In Tyler she served as secretary to the Director of Student Affairs at Tyler Junior College and as administrative assistant in their engineering business, Bucher, Willis and Ratliff-Consulting Engineers, Planners & Architects. Also while in Tyler she was active in the Mrs. International Beauty Pageant for several years in Dallas and Tyler where she served as Judge Coordinator.

She is survived by her husband, James Ray Flemons of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Shanna Lynne Wimpee and husband, Jeret of Rockwall, Texas; sons, Kacy Ray Flemons and wife, Joanna of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and James Ryan Flemons and wife, Heidi of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Meghan Wimpee, McKenzie Wimpee, Mason Wimpee, Haley Flemons, and Tyler Flemons; and brother, Larry Thompson of Edmond, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Oklahoma.  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
