Judith Isedua Okoh (nee Aburime)

Mrs. JUDITH ISEDUA OKOH (nee ABURIME) was born in Benin City on August 14th, 1955. Her father was High Chief (Dr.) Stephen Aihebholoria Aburime, also fondly called “Baba.” Her mother is Mrs. Agnes Aburime and paternal grandfather was Aburime Giba Usiholo of Idunwele Ewu, Edo State. Her paternal grandmother was Mrs. Onekholeilo Aburime, daughter of Eimuan, the then Onojie (King) of Ewu. Judith’s maternal grandfather was the Ogiehor (Egbeoba of Ehor, Edo State). Her maternal grandmother was Mrs. Victoria of Ebelle, Edo State. Judith attended Holy Cross II Primary School, Benin City during the earlier years of her elementary schooling. Her last two years of elementary schooling was at St. Gregory’s Catholic School, Ekpoma, while living with her aunt, Mrs. Izenebu Olumese. She attended Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ibillo from 1968 to 1972 for her WASC. Thereafter, she obtained an OND in Business Administration from Auchi Polytechnic and HND, from Kwara State Polytechnic, in Marketing and Accounting (Top of class, 2nd in the whole nation). In her late teens, she met and fell in love with the late Colonel Stephen Okoh (Rtd.) while he was a Captain. They married in 1978 and had four wonderful children: Kite, Jite, Ejiro and Wene. Judith is known to have been a mother to many relatives and non-relatives, some of which have lived with her from primary to tertiary schooling; proving her infinite capability to love. She worked for the National Youth Service Corps Directorate for some years during which she held responsible positions including that of Accountant. However, Judith was an entrepreneur and true businesswoman at heart, she established her own businesses: Jak Enterprises (Jak Fashion and Design), Jak Trading Company, and Jak Motors. Judith was an excellent listener to those who needed it and had amazing warmth. Friends, relatives and even strangers found comfort when confiding in her. She was a very active participant in Church activities and was known to always have her bible near her. Her death on 4th February 2011 in Texas, USA spread much sorrow and pain to all who knew and loved her. Judith’s smile and infinite joy of life will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by Steve Aburime (Baba), Steve Okoh, and Ejiroghene Okoh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
