IN LOVING MEMORY

Juanita Dorsett Young

Nov 26 1921 - May 07 2015

Funeral Services for Juanita Dorsett Young, 93 year old Frisco resident, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday May 9, 2015 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Rev. Kelly Montgomery will officiate. Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time.

Mrs. Young was born to George and Rebecca Dorsett on November 26, 1921 in Valley Creek, Texas. The youngest of 14 children, the last surviving, Juanita always considered the Leonard area her home. After graduating from Leonard High School, she married Gene Young in March 1941 and they were blessed with 3 children. After accepting the call to the ministry, he became a minister with the Assemblies of God and the family made their home in several areas over those years, including Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and even a short stint in California. In each church they served, Juanita worked alongside Gene and brought unity through her hospitality and power through her prayers. When Brother Young passed away in 1988, they were living in Leonard while he served as pastor of the First Assembly of God Church. Juanita only moved from Leonard to Frisco, where she made her home for the last 26 years, to be closer to her daughters and granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband and her only son, Joe.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses: Jeannie and J.B. Hooper of Frisco and Janette and Don McCarty of McKinney; her granddaughter: Jo Hooper of Frisco; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be buried in the Leonard Cemetery with her husband, son and mother-in-law, Bertha Young Julien.
