Joseph G. Martin, Jr., of Plano, Texas passed away September 9, 2012 at the age of 68. He was born October 11, 1943, in Philadelphia to Joseph G. Martin, Sr. and Helen (Alexander) Martin. Joseph graduated from Sharon Hill High School in Pennsylvania and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. Joseph moved to the Dallas area in 1967. On May 3, 1980, he married Mary F. Brackett in Dallas, and they made their home in Plano. Joseph and his brother Edward ran Martin Bros. Cameras in North Dallas until the late 1980s, and Joseph later engaged in raising and showing Peruvian Paso horses.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Martin of Plano, Texas; children, Jeffrey A. Martin and wife Kim, Sheryl Jeffrey and husband William, and Joseph Martin III, all of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Alexander, Ashley, Virginia and Patrick; brother, Edward Martin and wife Pam of Quarryville, Pennsylvania; sister, Elayne Cipolla and husband Raymond of Sewell, New Jersey; nephews and nieces, Matthew, Tyler, Katie, Susan and Carol; and his beloved Peruvian horses, Iceman and Hap.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, September 14, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, on Thursday evening, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
