IN LOVING MEMORY

Joseph Dexter Jennings, Jr.

Feb 08 1950 - Sep 17 2015

Joseph Dexter Jennings, Jr. of Melissa, Texas passed away on September 17, 2015 at the age of 65.  He was born on February 8, 1950 to Joseph Dexter, Sr. and Ethel Macadaline (Kemp) Jennings in Arlington, Virginia.  Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.  He married Deborah Dillon on April 26, 1980 in Alexandria, VA.  Joseph retired from Prism Electric in Garland, Texas.  He was of the Methodist faith. On September 17 2015 the Lord called Joe home to his final resting place. Joe was so many things to so many people, he was a husband, father, grandfather, and a friend. You never had to wonder what Joe was thinking because he would tell you what he thought. His sense of humor caught most ladies off guard. Nevertheless Joe was Joe. He was a Master Electrician always pushing himself to do his best.

Joe never knew the meaning of quit. He came from simple means raised on the farm in Virginia. He dreamed of being a pilot, but as a young man drafted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He returned home and took work as an electrician. No matter what the odds you rise from it. I can still hear him say "are you gonna let it beat you Blondie?”. Joe came into my life at the age of 12 he gave me my first job in the electrical field, most of my skills were handed down to me by him, and of course my first car . As a family we laughed, cried, argued and celebrate his life together. Although he is now gone Joe will forever live in our hearts and in our memory as we said so many times before "see you on the other side"

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Deborah Jennings of Melissa, Texas; son, Joseph D. Jennings, III of Melissa, Texas; daughters, Michelle Hambrick and husband Lenny of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Michelle Brummund and partner Josette Eline of Dallas, Texas; and grandchildren, Charyse, Dillon, Ethan, Kinley, Kyler and Keston.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at the Melissa Cemetery in Melissa, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening, September 21, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
