Jose Davila Gomez, age 71, of Princeton, Texas passed away March 30, 2011. He was born September 26, 1939 in Robstown, Texas to Simon Gomez and Apolinar (Davila) Gomez. On June 28, 1958 he married Maria Péna in Mathis, Texas. Jose grew up in San Patricio and attended schools in Mathis. He was a farmer and worked in agriculture most of his life. Jose enjoyed dirt track racing, where he raced for 28 years. He also enjoyed Barbequing and camping. He especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Maria Gomez of Princeton, Texas; children, Maria Montelongo and husband, J.D. of Farmersville, Texas, Margarita Hernandez and husband, Salvador of Princeton, Texas, Jessie Gomez and wife, Amy of Blue Ridge, Texas, Javier Gomez of Princeton, Texas, Joe Gomez and wife, Fonda of Blue Ridge, Texas, John Gomez and wife, Julie of Gainesville, Texas, Jason Gomez and wife, Tracie of Princeton, Texas; twenty one grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, and five brothers, Pete Ayala, Severo Gomez, Frank Gomez, Simon Gomez and Marcos Gomez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Apolinar Gomez; two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. J.D. Montelongo officiating. Interment will follow at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
