Johnny Sanchez Lovato of McKinney, Texas passed away March 12, 2015 at the age of 72. He was born April 16, 1942 to Lorenzo Lovato and Lorencita (Sanchez) Lovato in Winslow, Arizona. Johnny grew up in Winslow, Arizona where he graduated from Winslow High School. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California. Johnny served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1962-1968 and earned a National Defense Service Medal. He married Evangelina Castillo on February 17, 1968 in El Paso, Texas. Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Evangelina Lovato of McKinney, Texas; children, Melissa Cardenas and husband Rigo of McKinney, Texas and Juan Luis Lovato and wife Joanne also of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Priscilla Cardenas, Samantha Cardenas, Aidan Lovato, Edward Cardenas and Dylan Lovato; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his two brothers and four sisters.
A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas. Interment will be held 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas with Military Honors. The family will receive friends during a visitation Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
