Johnnie Willard Jones, age 89, of Howe, Texas, passed away January 21, 2015. He was born on July 1, 1925 in Plano, Texas, to Ora and Beulah (Bridges) Jones. On November 24, 1955, Johnnie married Lena Omia Lee Gillard, in McKinney, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Johnnie grew up in Lovejoy where he attended schools. He attended Baylor University earning a preaching certificate. Johnnie worked for Texas Power & Light, where he started as a lineman and worked his way up to a Transformer Supervisor; he retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting deer. Johnnie was a member of First Baptist Church in Howe, Texas.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Wiggins and husband Calvin, Deborha Womack and James Jones all of Howe, Texas; grandchildren, Marcy Wiggins, Leslie Wiggins, Kelly Gann, Lacey Sartor, Dustin Womack, Katrina Skaggs and Danielle Hurst; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Louise Bailey of Lowry Crossing, Texas and Linda Roberts of Detroit, Texas; a host of other loving family and friends.
Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Beulah Jones; wife, Lena Jones; son, Johnnie Lynn Jones; and sister, June Robertson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home.
