IN LOVING MEMORY

Johnnie Frances Hendricks

May 12 1932 - Feb 27 2015

Biography/Obituary

Johnnie Frances Kemp (Hendricks) was born on May 12, 1932 to Velma Nix Kemp and Clifford Horace Kemp at the home of her grandparents John Francis Nix and Donia Nix. From this you can derive from where she got her name, and her grandparents were such a special part of her life. She and her parents lived with her grandparents until she was almost three, and so many memories were shared with her. At the age of three, she and her parents moved to a location north of Blue Ridge. At that time, they began to attend church at the First Baptist Church. Here she accepted the Lord as her savior and was very involved in all church activities. She was the pianist for several years before she was married.

On June 4, 1949, she married Cecil Lee Hendricks at the First Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, and they spent all of their married life together on the farm which they bought from Cecil’s grandfather Barker’s estate. To this union, three children were born: Kathy Lynn Hendricks (Scribner), John Duwe Hendricks, and Clifford Lee Hendricks. They were the light of her life, and so much love abounded for these children. She was always cooking their favorite foods and trying to please them as they grew. As the family’s matriarch, she set into place cherished traditions that have been and will continue to be passed on through generations.

Johnnie worked for Wysong Clinic Hospital for 37 years in the office. Many friendships were made during those years, and she maintained some of those to the end of her life.

Sadness came to this family when John became sick in 1960 and passed away in 1964, Cecil Lee passed away in 2012, and Kathy passed one month later in 2013. It took so long for the family to recover with each loss, but with God’s help and the help of many loving family members and friends, they were able again to live.

To this family, six grandchildren came and they have all been so grand:

Cinda Kay Scribner (Owen)

Bradley Glen Scribner

Cassandra (Cassie) Michelle Hendricks (Domenico)

Dustin Lee Henricks

Tiffany Lynn Hendricks

Haley Pearl Hendricks

And then came some great-grandchildren:

Connor Don Owen

Chesney Kay Owen

Brody Glen Scribner

Sydney Faith Scribner

Grayson Glen Scribner

Ryan Lee Turbeville

Makayla Jae Domenico

Stryker Lee Hendricks

Aspen Marie Hendricks

And due in April, Riot John Hendricks

These grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been a wonderful part of life and may they never forget her love for them.

She is survived by one son, Clifford Lee Hendricks; his wife Jackie; the six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren named above; two sisters, Shirley Hendricks of Anna, TX and Paula Stephenson of Dallas, TX; four nieces, and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Velma Kemp; her husband, Cecil Lee Hendricks; her son John Duwe Hendricks; daughter, Kathy Lynn Scribner; and son-in-law, Bobby Scribner, and now she will see their shining faces once again.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 4th, at the Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, Texas with Rev. Shawn Bailey officiating. Interment was in the Stoney Point Cemetery in Valdasta, Texas. Visitation is from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made in her name to the Stoney Point Cemetery, PO Box 775, Melissa, TX 75454.
