John Michael Spears, age 35, of Galveston, Texas, passed away October 31, 2008, in Galveston, Texas. Michael was born December 29, 1972, in Odessa, Texas, to Johnny Phillip Spears and Donalda Elaine Thurman. Michael graduated from The Colony High School in 1991 and attended Texas A & M Commerce. He worked in the food and beverage industry as a waiter and a bartender. Michael also worked with his mother in animal rescue, specifically the rescue of collies. He loved animals and science fiction movies. He is survived by his father, Johnny Spears and wife, Jill of Frisco, Texas; mother, Donalda Mulrooney and husband, David of Port Bolivar, Texas; brother, James Calvin Spears of Galveston, Texas; sister, Jennifer Elizabeth Spears of Dallas, Texas; grandparents, Dorothy Hill of Gardendale, Texas and James Longueville of Frisco, Texas; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 7, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Levelland Cemetery in Levelland, Texas, at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, November 8, 2008. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
