John Calvin Shedd

John Shedd, age 81 of McKinney, Texas passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, March 15, 2015. He was born in Celina, Texas, December 31, 1933 to Mrs. Addie Shedd. John was affectingly known to his grandchildren as Pepaw. He was a loving husband, Pepaw, brother and friend. John attended Alla Hubbard School, in Celina, Texas, and enjoyed playing basketball.

After school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. He then entered the work force and worked for Sears Roebuck in Dallas then Homco Industries in McKinney. John retired in 1998.

He is a member of Community North Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. John was very devoted to his church and attended as long as his health permitted. He especially loved attending his Sunday school class. John also served as a deacon while attending King Memorial Baptist Church as well as teaching a Sunday school class.

His favorite sport was fishing, fishing, and more fishing. John enjoyed watching all of the local sports teams, especially the Rangers and the Cowboys (when they won). His children and grandchildren were the highlight of his life. John loved family events with them and with all of his family. He felt he had the best “in-laws” that one could possibly have. .

John is survived by his wife, Paula (Farley) of 57 years, daughters Vicki and husband James (Bud) Toler, Angie and husband Karl Wooley; grandchildren, Jim Chandler, Mandi Chandler, Savannah Cessna and Richard, and Scott Cessna and wife Stacey; five great- grandchildren; brother, James Shedd; sisters, Barbara Anderson and husband Gene and Bobbie Mills and husband Travis.

He was preceded in death by son, Johnny; mother, Addie Shedd; sisters, Bessie Hayles and Betty Perry, and in-laws A.W. and Winnie Farley.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson- Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening March 18, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A private burial will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Prosper, Texas.
