John Wallace Searcy

John W. “Dub” Searcy, age 78, of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home February 25, 2009. Dub was born January 10, 1931 in Princeton, Texas to Isaac Newton and Laura C. (Allen) Searcy. He married Charlsie Mae Herod on August 28, 1954 in McKinney. Dub was a fiberglass technician in the boat manufacturing business. He was a member of the former Immanuel Baptist Church in McKinney. He was active in the McKinney area Peewee Baseball program for more than twenty years. Dub was also the East Fork Baseball Commissioner. Dub proudly served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his sons, Charles Searcy and his wife, Vicky of Ft. Worth, Texas, John Searcy and his wife, Terry of McKinney, Wallace Searcy and his wife, Darlene of Cedar Park, Texas, and Danny Searcy also of McKinney; daughter, Robin Edwards of McKinney; grandchildren, Virginia Abbigail “Abby”, Justin, Erika, Preston, Caleb, Brittany, Ryan, and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Drake, Reese, Victoria, Bailey, Elizabeth, Ashley, and Lelia; and sister, Helen Lawson of Clifton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Charlsie, great-grandson, Jesse Mooney, great-granddaughter, Madison Powell, three brothers, and eight sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Dr. Woody Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Hospice, 730 Avenue F, #200, Plano, Texas, 75074.
