John William "Bill" Rajala

John William “Bill” Rajala, age 88, of McKinney, Texas, passed away April 6, 2010, in McKinney. Bill was born March 15, 1922, in Waukegan, Illinois, his parents were John and Anna (Kaalinenen) Rajala. He married Hope Whitney on December 22, 1946 in Joliet, Illinois. Bill grew up in Joliet where he graduated from Joliet High School. After proudly serving in the United States Army during World War II, under General George S. Patton, he graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor degree in business. Bill worked as a salesman in incentive sales for over twenty-five years. Grandpaw Bill moved to McKinney in 2002 to be with his grandchildren. He enjoyed history, watching golf, Northwestern football, and was a devout Cubs fan. Bill also had a passion for good food, especially chocolate. He attended The Chapel at Chestnut Square and was a member of First Baptist Church in McKinney. He is survived by his children, Constance Anne Rajala of Chicago, Illinois and Dr. Bruce William Rajala and wife, Lori of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Paris, age 7, Emily, age 15, Logan, age 19, and John and Christopher, age 22. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Allen, Texas with Chaplain Rickey Hargrave, officiating.
