John W. Miller

Mr. John W. Miller, age 84, passed away August 5, 2007, in McKinney, Texas. He was born March 4, 1923 in Weston, Texas, to Ira R. and Belle (Degman) Miller. On October 25, 1942 he married Mildred Duncan in Colbert, Oklahoma. He was a member of the College Street Church of Christ. From herding cattle in his youth on a horse named Steam Boat, to welding ships in World War II, to working for the McKinney Textile Mill, John led by example. He was one of the founders of the College Street Church of Christ, helping to build the church around forty years ago and has been a treasurer, song leader, and teacher at the church. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Miller of McKinney, Texas; sons, Gary Miller and his wife Vee Anne of Dallas, Texas, Roger Miller and his wife Linda of Telephone, Texas; daughter, Kathy Edwards and her husband Jack of Anna, Texas; grandchildren, Johnny Dale, James, Marlo, Chris, Tracy, Brandi, Sandy, Lorrie, and Johnny Wayne; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; brother, Doug Miller of Amarillo, Texas; sisters, Joyce Kindle of McKinney, Texas, Judy Phillips of McKinney, Texas, Pat Gouphnour of Jefferson, Iowa, Louise King of Sherman, Texas, Pauline Fox of Leesville, Louisiana, Ima Ray Schmidt of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Mozelle Lee of Gardendale, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. His is preceded by his parents, brother, Jim Miller; and sisters, Willie Bell Holmes, Hazel Miller and Wanda Faye Jones. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
