John Roy McBride, age 74 of Little Elm, Texas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on the morning of July 15, 2010. John Roy was born on June 27, 1936 in Pampa, Texas to Lee Roy and Mary McBride. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1954 and attended the University of Texas in Austin. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Catholic Fraternity and was still close to many of his fraternity brothers. John Roy was married to Jane Anne Stephens on April 27, 1963 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death on November 6, 1993. He was a lifetime member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Pampa and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter. John Roy moved to Dallas in 1996 and married Gerry Naylor on October 20, 2001. They lived happily together on Lake Lewisville in Little Elm. John Roy was an active member of the Richardson Senior Golf League where he gained many valuable friends. He is survived by his wife, Gerry Naylor of Little Elm; daughters, Leslie and husband, Randall Nutter of Arlington, Mary Lisa and husband, Tom Bell of McKinney, Lee Anne and husband, Eric Verret of Austin; grandchildren, Barrett, Brenden and Josh Bell and Rustin Verret of Austin; brother, James McBride and wife, Sandy of Amarillo; stepson, Norman Naylor and wife, Sharon of California; step-daughter, Diana Naylor Chiang and husband, Ray of California and seven step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 19, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas one hour prior to the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. A Graveside Service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Donations may be made in John Roy’s memory to Century Hospice of Dallas.
