John M. "Jack" Bridges, Jr.

Mr. John M. “Jack” Bridges, Jr. age 85, of Lucas, Texas passed away December 27, 2006, at his home. He was born March 3, 1921, in Clanton, Alabama to John McKim Bridges, Sr. and Winnie (Reynolds) Bridges. On October 13, 1945, he married Edna Purcell in Bessemer, Alabama. Mr. Bridges served in the Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. During this time he was a prisoner of war and received a Purple Heart. He was a graduate of Auburn University. Mr. Bridges was an architect and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lucas. He is survived by his wife, Edna Bridges of Lucas; son, John M. Bridges III and wife, Jackie of Allen, Texas; and daughter, Laura Reneau of Lucas, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron, Jillian and Erika Bridges, Dustin Reneau and Lori Bradfield, and Blake Collard; great-grandson, Gavin Reneau; brother, Terrell Bridges of Guntersville, Alabama; and sister, Winky Washburn of Newton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. James Bridges; and sister, Patricia Cammack. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Lucas with Rev. Darrell Coats officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lucas, Texas.
