John McCarty Lowry, age 93, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 22, 2010, in McKinney. John was born December 11, 1916, in Durant, Oklahoma, to John M. and Clara Barton (Coleman) Lowry, Sr. He married Dorris Coffey on October 19, 1941, in McKinney, Texas. John was a businessman for 50 years. He owned and operated The Style Shop and The Annex which was located in downtown McKinney. He was a member of the McKinney Rotary Club as well as a longtime member of First Baptist Church in McKinney. He loved the Lord and his family, and truly enjoyed fishing on Lake Texoma and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Clara Roberson and husband, Marc of Mexia, Texas and Freda Kendall and her husband, Dan of Allen, Texas; grandson, John Marc Roberson of Mexia, Texas; granddaughters, Christina Roberson of Mexia, Texas, Melanie Davis and husband, Jonathan of Spring, Texas, and Melissa Kendall of North Hollywood, California; his loving caregivers, Debbi Rutledge and Moon Shamil and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Dorris, and sister, Evelyn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at First Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas with Dr. Mack Roark and Rev. Randy Morlan officiating. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
