John Robert Leach, Jr.

John Robert Leach, Jr., age 80, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 29, 2008, in McKinney. John was born March 3, 1928 in Dallas, Texas, to John Robert and Lila Bell (Watson) Leach, Sr. He grew up in Dallas and attended Adamson High School. John joined the Navy at age 16 following Pearl Harbour, and served through the end of the war. John proudly served in the United States Air Force where he served as a Fighter Interceptor pilot in Alaska, taught ROTC at Rutgers, was a senior controller at the block house at Naha Airbase in Okinawa, and as Commander of Office of Special Investigations Detachment 305 in western Pennsylvania. He earned a World War II Victory Medal, and Air Combat medal, a National DEF medal, an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, and an Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. After retiring from the Airforce in 1970 John worked Southern Security Service in charge of major accounts in the Dallas area, specifically managed the security and private investigation services for the Collins Radio Rockwell International group in Richardson Texas. In addition, John owned and operated Leach Security Services, a security and private investigative service business he started along with his two sons John and Gary. His later years were spent on his ranch in Fruitvale Texas, taking care of his Arabian horses, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers games on television . He is survived by his wife, Reva of McKinney, Texas; children, John Robert Leach, III of Houston, Texas, Judith Gale Campbell of Denton, Texas, Gary Len Leach of Plano, Texas, and Shannon Kay Leach also of McKinney, Texas; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Fisk of Lake Whitney, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Mary Faye Turner and brother, William James Gilmore. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas with Dr. Danny Buster officiating.
