John Fred Lackey

Mr. Lackey was born July 21, 1949 at Dallas, Texas to parents Harry Tucker and Louetta Riley Lackey. He married Maggie Kathleen Browning August 11, 1967 at Dallas. He was a very selfless, kind and good-hearted man, always doing for others. He was proud of his Native American heritage. He loved to share good advice. He had a great sense of humor, loved to joke, laugh, and make others laugh, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to all who knew him, and an excellent provider for his family. He was a very intelligent man. He never turned down an opportunity to help someone in need. He was a smart business man, very hard working, was always worrying about his loved ones, and always on the move doing something or fixing something. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a great problem solver. He loved his children and his grandchildren and cared very much about his family. He is happy that he gets to be reunited with his dear wife, Kathleen. He passed away Monday March 24, 2014 at the Charlton Methodist Hospital at Dallas.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Wendy & Donnie Murray of Ovilla, Sherry & Daniel Collins of Midlothain, and Denise Johnnette Kaye of Rowlette; his five grandchildren: Chandler Kaye, Sheridan Collins, Chelsea Vipond, Hailey Murray and John Collins; his brothers and sisters: Harry Lackey of Dallas, Betty Howell of Mesquite, James Lackey of Benwheeler and Mary Weseman of Allen; his brother-in-law, Norman Gamel, Jr., brother-in-law, Willie Browing, sister-in-law, Donna Lackey, and brother-in-law, Luke Weseman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Joe Lackey, and many close friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Fred Lackey, 64 year old Duncanville resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday March 28, 2014 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Daniel Collins will officiate. Burial will be in the Burns Cemetery at Trenton. Family visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday March 28, 2014.
