John Roy MacKenzie Evans

John Roy MacKenzie Evans, age 85 of Frisco, Texas passed away May 29, 2004. He was born in West Lorne, Ontario, Canada on March 15, 1919 to Roy Edward and Mary Marguerite Matheson McGill Evans. John served in the Canadian Royal Navy and worked jointly with the British Royal Navy during World War II. He worked as a self-employed Consulting Engineer in Midland, Texas. John is survived by his daughters, Mary and Dave Stephenson, Frisco, Texas and Linda and Alan Bambina, Farmers Branch, Texas; son, Michael Evans, Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Rife, Todd Hewes, Catherine Johnson and Laura Stephenson; great-grandson, Evan Rife; former wife and friend, Louise Evans and friends, Fay Hamilton, Brooks and Dannye Potter and Vic Brenon. “You cannot fail in life if you just have the courage to try. The only way to fail is to stop trying or not even to try in the first place.” A gentle man with a selfless and generous spirit who put other’s needs above his own. He found clothes and beds for the needy and food for the hungry ~ always with a sparkle in his eyes. He especially loved dancing at the McKinney Senior Center and reading to the children of Frisco Montessori School. He rediscovered his own family and they him in the final winter of his life. We will miss him dearly. “No task is impossible ~ it just takes longer.” Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 from 6-8 PM and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 2:00 PM. Both will take place at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, TX 75034. The family request in lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimers Association, Arthritis Foundation or the Michaels Foundation.
