IN LOVING MEMORY

John Robert "Rob" Erwin

Dec 08 1922 - Jan 29 2012

John Robert “Rob” Erwin was born in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur Clayton and Neva (Green) Erwin. In 1946 he married Dorothy Lou Witt in his hometown (they met when they were sixteen). Rob served his country in World War II as an Air Force bombardier, for which service he received the honors of a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Rob had a full and successful working career in several capacities, including personnel manager of the Christian Science Publishing Society in Boston, Massachusetts, President of Liquid Paper Corporation in Dallas, Texas, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Christian Science Publishing Society. He was a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, and its branch church in Richardson, Texas. An avid fisherman, Rob joined his sons Rich and Randy on annual fishing trips to Canada for nearly 20 years. He and Dorothy loved to travel the world and meet new friends wherever they went. Above all Rob loved to spend time with his life-long companion, Dorothy, and their extended family. Rob and his wife, Dorothy, were married for 66 wonderful years. They have two sons, Richard and Randy. Rich and his wife Susan have two grown daughters: Carey who lives in Denver, and Laurie who married Dimitrios Douros and lives in Plano. Randy and his wife Anne live in Katy, Texas and have two grown daughters. Jennifer Roberts and her husband Steve have two sons: Colten and Bryson and live in Edmond, OK. Heather Fairbanks and her husband Brandon have a son Noah and live in Elsah, Illinois. Rob was very devoted to his faith as shown in the service he gave to his church. He served not only as a Reader and member of the Board of Trustees, but also in virtually every capacity. He also served multiple times as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Leaves, the nearby Christian Science care facility in Richardson. Following retirement, Rob’s hobbies included photography, weaving, and baking. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 100 St. Lukes Drive, Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Leaves, 1230 West Spring Valley Rd., Richardson, Texas, 75080.
