John H. Blackwelder, age 65, of Lucas, Texas passed away April 21, 2004, at his home. He was born January 25, 1939, in Barstow, Texas to Jesse Cleveland and Guadalupe (Lasoya) Blackwelder. On October 17, 1958, he married Mariann Smyrl in Kermit, Texas. Mr. Blackwelder was a maintenance supervisor for Arco Alaska Inc. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Allen, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Mariann Blackwelder of Lucas; daughter, René Ballard and husband, Joe of Little Elm, Texas and Regina Duran and husband, Tony of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Derek Coker and Cassie Coker of Little Elm, Chelsea Duran and Hannah Duran of Frisco; brother, Jesse Blackwelder of Lubbock, Texas and Joe Blackwelder of Monahans, Texas; sisters, Olivia Sturdivant of Midland, Texas and Mary Goldin of Aurora, Colorado; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Juanita Bustillos and Jeanette Blackwelder. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Frisco, 8769 Hummingbird Lane with Dr. Keith Miles officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in McKinney.
