Obituary For Joe L. Voorhies Joe L. Voorhies, age 66, of Celina, Texas, passed away April 26, 2008, in McKinney, Texas. He was born March 20, 1942, in Fayetteville, Indiana, the son of Tirey J. and Mercedes (Peel) Voorhies. He served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne. On May 26, 1979, he married Carole Louise Gornot in Corpus Christi, Texas. He and Carole were twenty-five year residents of Celina, Texas. Mr. Voorhies was a residential contractor and welder. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Carole; children, Michael Holder and his wife, Pam of Taylor, Texas, Caroline Simpson and her husband, E.T. of Magnolia, Texas, Steven Holder and his wife, Stacy of Whitt, Texas, David Voorhies of Hawaii, and Susan Rimpel and her husband, Mike of Athens, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, John, Denny, Bo and Danny Voorhies. He was preceded in death by his brother, Deeney Voorhies. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Celina, Texas, with Brother Michael Holder officiating.
