Joe Leon Perez, age 80, of Plano, Texas, passed away October 30, 2011, in Plano. Joe was born July 4, 1931 in Kennedy, Texas, to Joe and Leonor (Garcia) Perez. He married Janice Thomas on November 12, 1955, in McKinney, Texas. Joe was a music director at numerous churches in the area. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Josephine, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Janice Perez of Plano, Texas; children, Susan Perez of Wylie, Texas, Michael Perez of Dallas, Texas, Diana Streller and husband, Scott, Mark Perez, Donald Perez and wife Sarah, all of Plano, Texas, and Karen Vasquez and husband, Abel of Richardson, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Ishmael Perez and wife, Eva of Denver, Colorado; sister, Mary Araiza of Garland, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Edelia Muñoz and Velia Woolf. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. Joe Vasquez and Rev. Miguel Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
