Mrs. JoAnn Russell, age 76, of McKinney, Texas passed away April 29, 2009, at her home. She was born in Waurika, Oklahoma on October 19, 1932, into a family of five siblings, to William Henry and Viola Frances (Jackson) Wright. She lived her childhood and teen years in Waurika and Ringling, Oklahoma. On July 17, 1976, she married Bobby Russell in Irving, Texas. JoAnn graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and East Texas State University, majoring in Special Education. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 32 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McKinney. JoAnn is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bob Russell of McKinney; daughter, Julie Casey and her husband, Terry of Parker, Texas; son, John Ledbetter and his wife, Lexie of Coppell, Texas; stepson, Todd Russell and his wife, JoDawn of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Caden Ledbetter and Austin, Preston and Coleman Russell; sisters, Reda Faye McWilliams of Ft. Worth, Texas, Melba Shelby of DeLeon, Texas, and Wilma Dowell of McKinney. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and many friends. Her parents and brothers, Elmer Wright and R.V. Wright preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in McKinney with Dr. Jeff Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m., Sunday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
