IN LOVING MEMORY

Jo Ann Womack

Mar 20 1937 - Sep 18 2014

Jo Ann Womack, of McKinney, Texas, passed away September 18, 2014, in McKinney. Jo Ann was born March 20, 1937, in Shamrock, Texas, to Roy C. and Ada Lee (Holt) Hardin. She graduated in 1955 as the valedictorian of her senior class at Meadow High School in Meadow, Texas.   Jo Ann married Harold (Hal) Womack in June of 1956 in Lubbock, Texas. She supported him through Texas Tech University. In 1960, following graduation, they began a twenty-four year career in the United States Air Force. Jo Ann served as President of the Officer’s Wives Club at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and also at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. Her husband retired from the Air Force in 1984 and the family returned to Lubbock. Guiding her sons through their university studies, caring for elderly parents, and leading in church activities at Oakwood Baptist Church, Jo Ann successfully shared her life with those she most loved. The birth of her grandchildren in Plano marked another opportunity for growth and joy for Jo Ann, so she and Harold moved to McKinney. She was the greatest Nana ever. Since 1999, Jo Ann was active in First Baptist Church of McKinney. She was a lady in every classic sense.

She is survived by her husband, Harold (Hal) Womack of McKinney, Texas; sons, David Womack of Grand Prairie, Texas and Jeffrey Womack and wife, Sharon of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jack; brothers, Glen D. Hardin and wife, Betty of Nashville, Tennessee, Dwight Hardin and wife, Risa of Weatherford, Texas, and Mark Hardin and wife, Marta of Plainview, Texas; and sister, Judy Hardin of Berkeley, California.
