Jimmie McElroy, age 74, of Fairview, Texas, passed away on February 11, 2014. He was born in Henry County, Tennessee, on November 1, 1939, to Samuel Younger and Camillia Elizabeth (Carlile) McElroy. On August 22, 1964, Jimmie married Ruth Ann Bartee in LaCenter, Kentucky. He grew up in Tennessee and graduated from Puryear High School in 1957. Jimmie earned his bachelor degree from Murray State University in 1964 in math and physics. He worked for Texas Instruments and Raytheon, as a program manager, for over 35 years; working on many programs, including thermal imaging systems used on the F117 Stealth Fighter. Jimmie was an avid reader and enjoyed working outside.
He is survived by his wife Ruth McElroy of Fairview, Texas; daughter, Shelagh McElroy and husband Dave Monsch of Dallas, Texas; son, Kevin McElroy and wife Tiffany of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Korey McElroy and Kinan McElroy; nieces, Ginger McElroy and Kim McElroy Patterson both of Puryear, Tennessee; a host of other family and friends.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Camillia McElroy and brother, Billy McElroy.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A remembrance gathering will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
